Caramel Pops

Caramel Pops
For Printable Recipe, Click here!
Makes: About 8 pops

½ cup Light Corn Syrup
1 cups Heavy Cream
1 cups Sugar
1/8 tsp. Salt
2 tbsp. Unsalted Butter, Plus extra to butter pan

Lollipop Sticks
Chocolate Sprinkles

Butter the bottom of a baking sheet and set aside.

In a large, heavy saucepan, combine the corn syrup, ½ cup of heavy cream, sugar, and salt.  Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

Once the mixture has reached a boil, slowly add the remaining cup of heavy cream while continuing to stir constantly.  Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow the mixture to boil for 6 minutes.

During the 6 minutes, cut the butter into cubes.  Once the 6 minutes have passed, add the butter to the mixture 2 cubes at a time.  Stir until the butter has melted.

Place the candy thermometer into the mixture and let the mixture bubble until it reaches 250 degrees F.  It will take about 30 minutes to reach 250 degrees F.

Once the mixture has reached 250 degrees F, remove the pan from heat and pour the caramel onto the buttered baking sheet.  Let the caramel cool until it is room temperature.

Once the caramel has cooled, starting from the shorter side, roll the caramel into a long log.  Using a sharp knife cut the log into 1-inch rounds.  Place a lollipop stick in the middle of each round.  Lightly rub a thin layer of water around the sides of the caramel round and roll the sides through the sprinkles.

Serve and Enjoy :)!  The caramel can keep in an airtight container for a couple days.

Wedding Songs: 48 Wedding Songs for Your Style

Your Wedding Style: Indie

Your wedding is as unique as you (hence the funny video montage you both created for your wedding web page). Your style is understated with quirky details, like the Converse sneakers he’s wearing with his suit or the fabric clutch you found on Etsy.com that goes perfectly with your casual, vintage dress. When it comes to music, you’re anti-Top 40 for your wedding (or any other day, while we’re at it).

Printing on Burlap

Last week, I talked about some of the trends we are currently seeing at weddings. One of those trends is Burlap, it is huge right now so, I thought I would share a different way to use it at your wedding or event. One of the ways it can be used is as an invitation. Print on it and put it in a vintage looking envelope. Here are some instructions on how to print on the burlap. This is for a laundry sign but, the same applies for anything else.

{1st Step}
I created my “laundry” verbiage in Photoshop elements, but you could use any word processing program.   I made it 8 1/2” x 11”, so that it would run through my printer as a standard piece of paper.  I went to an online dictionary to find the definition I used.
{2nd Step}
Iron the burlap.
I had a piece of scrap burlap that worked perfectly for this project.  You want your fabric nice and smooth for the printing.
{3rd Step}
Place your freezer paper on top of your ironed burlap with the shiny side down (touching the  burlap).  Run a medium, dry iron on top of the freezer paper and it will magically adhere to your burlap.
{4th Step}
Cut your burlap/freezer paper into your 8 1/2” x 11” size.
{5th Step}
Run your burlap/freezer paper through your printer.
{6th Step}
Peel off the freezer paper….
and you have this amazing printed burlap!

10 Popular Wedding Trends

Here are some of the popular wedding trends that you will see incorporated into a lot of weddings.

1. Lace - Lace, lace, lace, everywhere! From the dress to the favors.
2. Burlap - Burlap is being used as Table clothes, decor on bottles, napkin holders, etc.. The list goes on.
3. Crates - Brides are using crates to store favors, wraps for guests, plus much more..
4. Picture Frames - They are hung from trees, used as props for pictures, and even guest books.
5. Mason Jars - Instead of vases you will find mason jars!! Brides are also using them for favor jars, and glasses. Remember to paint a rectangle with chalk paint. Then your guests can use them all night and write their names on them.
6. Flags - Flag bunting is huge right know. Brides will use the flags as decor or to write a message.
7. Picture save the dates - Couples are finding unique ways to let there friends and family know they are getting married.
8. Wood - I know you are probably thinking ha! But, wood is being incorporated into a lot of weddings. The vases are tree stumps, the cake pedestals are tree stumps, the table numbers are wood, need I explain more..
9. Games - Couples are thinking of creative ways for their guests to enjoy themselves during the reception. You will see cricket, bean bag tosses with the couples silhouettes, and even twister painted onto grass.
10. Photo Booths- Couples are using photo booths as there guest books. Props such as mustaches, lips, hats, bow ties, are being used to liven the pictures up, along with picture frames.

Apple Pie Caramel Apples

With Fall right around the corner, I thought this recipe would be a good way to start it off.

1 bag Kraft caramels
4-5 large, tart apples (You can use red apples too but I like the contrast of the tart apple with the caramel)
1 bag white chocolate chips or white chocolate candy melts
cinnamon sugar

1. Wash, scrub, and dry apples. This is important or your caramel won't stick because of the coating stores put on apples.
2. In a medium saucepan, melt caramel according to package directions.
3. Put popsicle stick in the apple. Dip in melted caramel making sure to fully coat it.
4. Place on parchment or wax paper that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
5. Cool in the fridge until caramel is set up. If you want a thick caramel layer, add another layer of caramel here and let it set up again.
6. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second intervals. You can add a little shortening if the mixture is too thick.
7. Coat the apple with the chocolate.
8. Let it set up a little bit before sprinkling it with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
9. Cool completely in the fridge.
10. Cut into slices and serve.
